March 2023 - Bridge Partners is pleased to announce the appointment of Dominique Jean-Louis as Chief Historian of Brooklyn Public Library.

Established in 1896, Brooklyn Public library (BPL) is one of the nation’s largest public library systems and currently has more than 850,000 active cardholders. In 2020, the former Brooklyn Historical Society (founded in 1863) and Brooklyn Public Library combined their collections. The Center for Brooklyn History (CBH) is now home to the world’s largest collection of physical and digital primary source materials and artifacts about Brooklyn. A nationally recognized urban history center, CBH is dedicated to preserving, understanding, and collecting the stories of Brooklyn’s many diverse and dynamic communities.   

 Ms. Jean-Louis joins Brooklyn Public Library from the New York Historical Society where she served as Associate Curator for five years. As Chief Historian of The Center for Brooklyn History at Brooklyn Public Library, she will develop and implement curatorial, interpretive, and original research projects at CBH, drawing upon its collections to create exhibits, digital projects, programs, and special initiatives. CBH seeks to democratize access to and engagement with its collection. 

Ms. Jean-Louis holds a Bachelor of Arts from Columbia University. She is in the process of earning a PhD from New York University in 20th Century US History.
