Morgan Malone

Executive Director
CITY BUREAU

January 2024 — Bridge Partners is pleased to announce the appointment of Morgan Malone as the Executive Director of City Bureau. She is the first person to hold the role of chief executive for the organization.

City Bureau is a Chicago-based media lab reimagining journalism as a direct service to democracy. They equip people with skills and resources, facilitate critical public conversations, and produce information that directly addresses people’s needs. They also make an impact nationally by supporting and convening organizations in other parts of the United States and across the world to grow and strengthen participatory media as a field. Their work is rooted in a belief that an equitable information system is the foundation for a just democracy, and their long-term vision is a world in which every community is equipped with the tools it needs to eliminate information inequity and further liberation, justice, and self-determination.

Morgan joins City Bureau from Farpoint Development where, most recently, she was Managing Director for Strategic Initiatives and Operations, which included responsibility, as co-lead and project executive, for oversight of the historic 100-acre, $8.2 billion Bronzeville Lakefront development on Chicago’s South Side.

As Executive Director, Morgan will lead the organization at a pivotal moment of growth and evolution as City Bureau reimagines local media as a public good. She will forge a sustainable path forward for the team as they equip people in Chicago and across the country to meet the information needs of their communities.

Morganholds a Bachelor of Arts from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. She also serves as an appointed Commissioner on the Cook County Commission on Social Innovation. She is a board member of the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless and the Greater Englewood Chamber of Commerce Foundation.
