NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness is the nation’s leading voice on mental health and the largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness and their families.
As CEO, Mr. Gillison will provide direction and leadership for the organization’s mission and vision, communicate the goals of NAMI, and oversee the implementation of the organization’s new strategic plan, programs and initiatives.
Mr. Gillison joins NAMI from the American Psychiatric Association Foundation (APAF) where he served as Executive Director and was responsible for strategic planning, personnel management, board communications, oversight of APAF’s public education programs and outreach, formulating strategic alliances and partnerships and was Acting Director for Diversity and Health Equity. Prior to APAF, Mr. Gillison was Director, County Solutions with the National Association of Counties (NACo). He started his career in the private sector and held a number of national senior-level roles in the telecommunications industry including Sprint Communications and Nextel. He graduated from Southern University, Baton Rouge, LA with a B.A. in Communications.
